Benefits of eating yogurt
My family has been eating yogurt daily for some time now, and our favorite flavor, chocolate, has undergone changes over the years. I like to make my own yogurt at home so that my kids and husband can benefit from all the perks that come with taking something whose contents I can control, something you can’t say about commercial types. Speaking of yogurt and nutrition, I have found that this cream comes with a wide range of advantages if eaten consistently over a long duration of time.
Here is a look at the health benefits of eating yogurt:
Cutting down on the risk of HBP
In a research conducted by Harvard University’s School of Public Heath, experts established a close relationship between the intake of yogurt and the risk of exposure to High Blood Pressure. The researchers observed that those who ate the cream two or three days a day for several months were able to reduce their risk of HBP by at least 50%. The study recommended that the most effective yogurt, in this case, would be the low-fat variety.
Yogurt assists in digestion
Research has it that curd contains a large number of Probiotics which go a long way towards making digestion and metabolism easier. Basically, there is any number of gut flora within the body of any living organism. For the digestive tract to function optimally, there needs to be a balance between the good bacteria and the bad ones. The live active cultures that create this balance are present in every single drop of yogurt. Said cultures include Lactobacillus Acidophilus and Bifidobacterium Lactis. Live active cultures are also known to play a continuous role in preventing a wide range of gut conditions, with the list including colon cancer, lactose intolerance, constipation, diarrhea, and bowel diseases.
Yogurt helps with weight loss
I stumbled upon a research from the University of Tennessee, Knoxville that said that people who take 18 ounces of yogurt a day for say, 3 or 4 months are able to reign in the problem of burgeoning waistline by 22% more than those who choose not to take yogurt. Another perk to taking yogurt is that it discourages the production of the hormone cortisol. The problem with this hormone is that it stimulates the retention of fat around the belly. When produced in low quantities, cortisol does not hinder the process of losing pounds. The Amino acids present therein also help in burning fat.
It nourishes your skin
If you are looking for the perfect solution to blemishes and dryness on your skin, then chemical peels might have flown under your radar. The problem is that said peels are expensive and simply not safe for a lot of people. The good news is that you can always bank on yogurt, which contains traces of lactic acid present in most peels.
Commercial yogurts are okay and all that, but nothing beats the alternatives you can conjure up in your own kitchen. This way, you know what goes into your brew and can tinker with the components to come up with something tasty and healthy.
